The upgraded IS technology with improved algorithm brings expanded frequency bands correction for improved correction of minute, fast and slow image shake. It also shortens the time required to activate the IS, as well as providing smoother panning support for easy tracking of birds in flight.

The design results in a more energy efficient operation where batteries now have a continuous usage time that is approximately two times longer than previous models*1. At temperatures of 25°C both models provide up to nine hours of continuous stabilization on a pair of AA-size alkaline batteries.
