The RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM is the world's shortest and lightest 70-200mm f/4 telephoto zoom lens 1. It takes full advantage of the RF mount to bring a 119mm long lens body which is as compact as a standard zoom lens. The unprecedented mobility make this lens very east to store and bringing around. Four UD lenses are added to enhance image quality and the "Electronic Floating Focus Control" with two Nano USMs is also adopted for high speed AF. This lens allows users to experience the unrivaled compactness of a telephoto zoom lens.

The RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM has taken a step further to achieve a major breakthrough in size and portability, making it “The World's shortest and lightest 70-200mm f/4 telephoto zoom lens” for full frame digital interchangeable lens camera1. Its new zoom type with a variable length design makes the lens size comparable to a standard zoom lens such as the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. With a length of only 119mm and a weight of only 695g, it is approximately 32% shorter and 11% lighter than its EF counterpart, making it easy to be stored in a camera bag.
RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM can be stored easily in a camera bag while being attached to the camera.

RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM covers from medium telephoto focal length of 70mm to telephoto focal length of 200mm, which provides a range suited for different genres from sports to portraits or snapshots as well. The lens also allows you to frame a landscape for a creative composition and you could get up- close for artistic shot.

High Image Quality
While taking advantage of the large diameter mount and short back focus of RF Mount, by effectively arranging four UD lenses in RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM ‘s newly developed 16 elements in 11 groups optical design, chromatic aberration is well corrected over the entire zoom range. High image quality with reduced color fringe from the center of the image to the periphery is obtained. While achieving a significant reduction in size, it achieves image quality equivalent to or better than the popular EF70-200mm f/4L IS II USM from the maximum aperture. The lens’s 9-blade circular aperture also delivers beautiful and soft background blur.

ASC (Air Sphere Coating)
ASC (Air Sphere Coating) with excellent anti-reflection effects is incorporated to suppress the occurrence of flaring and ghosting to a higher degree.
Electronic Floating Focus Control
The RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM adopts the "Electronic Floating Focus Control" technology with an additional "floating lens group" to the "focus lens group" for autofocus. With this technology, the positions of the "focus lens group" and "floating lens group" can change according to the focal length and subject distance without the need of complex zoom cam mechanism, so that out-of-focus and aberrations are always reduced during zooming while keeping the lens compact.
High Speed and Silent AF
Two Nano USMs are used in RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM to drive the "focus lens group" and "floating lens group" individually. They can deliver high speed and high accuracy AF for photo shooting as well as smooth and nearly silent Movie Servo AF for movie recording. Moreover, "lens breathing" effect is also reduced during video recording by utilizing the "Electronic Floating Focus Control" technology.

Minimum focusing distance of 0.6m
The electronic floating focus system drastically shortened the minimum focusing distance and enables excellent correction of aberrations during close-up shooting. A minimum focusing distance of 0.6m with improved image quality is thus achieved at full zoom range, with a maximum magnification of 0.28x. (at 200mm)
Image Stabilization up to 7.5 stops2
The lens’ built-in Optical Image Stabilizer provides up to 5-stops image stabilization 3 that facilitates handheld shooting. When paired with EOS R series cameras equipped with In-Body Image Stabilization, up to 7.5-stops 2 image stabilization can be achieved, which allows to shoot with slow shutter in dark situations.

Incorporates the RF lens control ring to adjust assigned settings such as ISO speed, shutter speed or aperture value directly from the lens.
The clicking sensation and sound of the control ring can be removed for silent control during photo shooting or video recording. This service is available at Canon Care Center (chargeable service).
Compatible with Electronic full-time MF
Lens is compatible with Electronic full-time MF4, focus can be adjusted manually with focus ring anytime during ONE SHOT AF or SERVO AF.

Heat-Shield Coating
