The Multi-Function Shoe Directional Stereo Microphone DM-E1D is a digital microphone dedicated for EOS cameras with Multi-Function Shoe. Utilizing the new Multi-Function Shoe, the DM-E1D draws power directly from the camera and is able to transmit audio data to the camera and results in a battery-less and cable-less design. Digital signals are less susceptible to external noise, resulting in better sound quality compared to analog microphones. The DM-E1D supports monaural Shotgun mode and Stereo with 90° or 120°directivity for use in different scenarios.

Digital Output for High Quality Audio
Taking the advantage of Multi-Function Shoe’s high speed interface, Multi-Function Shoe Directional Stereo Microphone DM-E1D realizes digital audio output directly to camera. The digital output eliminated the need for audio cable, along with the noise interference caused by external electromagnetic wave to the cable, achieving high quality audio with a significant low-noise performance. Without any external cable, there is also no risk of accidental detachment during use.
3 Types of Directivity Setting
The DM-E1D is equipped with three types of directivity for optimum recording according to different situations. Directivity can be switched via the menu screen on the camera.
Monaural Shotgun
Especially useful when recording an interview or recording a specific item.
90° Stereo
Records in a larger angle than shotgun to include more ambience sound around the subject. Suitable for most situations.
120° Stereo
Great for recording surrounding ambience sound in a large hall or during a performance.
Easy to use
Microphone Setting via Camera Menu
In camera’s movie shooting mode, a touch of the MENU button located at the back of the DM-E1D will display the microphone settings immediately on the camera's LCD monitor. Pressing the Menu button again will toggle back to the camera's menu settings.
With microphone settings done directly on the camera display, this minimizes the risk of accidental switching of settings when loading and unloading equipment.
Battery-Free Design
DM-E1D is powered by Multi-Function Shoe, user no longer has to worry about the microphone runs out of power during a shoot.
Wind Screen
Fur-type Wind Screen is bundled with DM-E1D for effectively reducing wind noise when shooting outdoor.
