Summary

Ultra-High Speed x High Image Quality

    24.2MP Full Frame CMOS Sensor

EOS R6 Mark II is equipped with a newly developed high-speed 24.2MP Full Frame Canon CMOS and DIGIC X Image processor, realizing ultra-high speed image processing and high image quality. The standard ISO range of EOS R6 Mark II is ISO 100 to 102400, it can be further expanded to 204800.

    40 FPS High Speed Shooting

EOS R6 Mark II supports up to 40FPS1 high speed continuous shooting with Auto Focus / Auto Exposure Tracking when using electronic shutter2 , with providing up to 1/16000sec. shutter speed. Even with mechanical shutter, EOS R6 Mark II is capable to capture up to 12FPS3. This makes EOS R6 Mark II capable to capture unanticipated moments.

    RAW Burst Mode

For the first time among full-frame EOS cameras, EOS R6 Mark II is equipped with RAW burst mode9. RAW Burst mode provides non-cropped approx. 30FPS and AF-tracking burst shooting up to approx. 189 shots. Also, by turning on pre-shooting, shooting can start about 0.5 second before the shutter button is pressed, the camera can capture the decisive moments that are nearly invisible to human eyes.

In-Body Image Stabilizer with 8-stop shake compensation

The In-body Image Stabilizer offers up to 8-stops shake compensation4 . It provides 5-axis stabilization for photo and video shooting and coordinates with RF Lenses with Optical Image Stabilizer to enable more effective stabilization.

    Creative Imaging Functions

New [Moving Subjects] option in HDR Mode

In addition to the conventional HDR PQ (Single shot) and HDR mode [Dynamic range] priority (3 shots composite), EOS R6 Mark II includes a new [Moving Subjects] option in HDR Mode . People, animals, and vehicles, which were difficult to shoot because the subject moved between frames while shooting three shots, can be captured while a wide range of gradations is expressed through a single shot, even in scenes with a wide dynamic range and a large difference in brightness.

    Normal Shooting

    HDR Mode: [Moving Subjects] shooting

    Panorama Shot

The first time to incorporate the Panorama Shot (SCN mode) feature in EOS Full Frame cameras, which allows taking up to 200 shots at a time and the camera will merge them to form a high-resolution and high-quality panorama shot.

    Focus Bracketing & Depth Composition

By using the Focus Bracketing feature in the EOS R6 Mark II, users can choose to shoot up to 999 shots to capture different focus points within a scene. These shots are then automatically stacked together through the “Depth Compositing” feature within the camera to achieve an image that is sharp across with a deep depth of field.

    Other Imaging Functions

    • New High Frequency Anti-Flicker Shooting (50Hz to 8192 Hz) inherited from EOS R3 to accommodate LED lighting.10
    • New 2x and 4x Digital Tele-converter to extend the reach without switching lens.11
    • New Cloud RAW Processing12 for high quality JPEG/HEIF development utilizing image processing algorithm developed through deep learning.

    More advanced
    subject recognition and
    tracking auto focus

EOS R6 Mark II adopts the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, providing up to 100% AF coverage area13 with 1,053 frame zones. EOS R6 Mark II also features EOS iTR AF X inherited from EOS R3 with AF algorithm developed using Deep Learning technology for high performance Subject Recognition and AF tracking of people, animals5 and vehicles.6

More advanced subject recognition and tracking auto focus

    Auto Subject Detection

New Auto Subject Detection detects and selects people, animals or vehicles as subject automatically, User can take photos of people, animals, and vehicles without considering the camera settings.

Right Eye or Left Eye priority AF

New Right Eye priority or Left Eye priority in Eye Detection AF, which is a helpful feature when shooting a person with a shallow depth of field using a large-aperture lens.

    Animal Detection5

In addition to dogs, cats and birds, animal detection5 now supports detection of horses (racing horses, zebra and ponies etc) even with rider.

    Vehicle Detection 6

Vehicle Detection6 is enhanced to cover train (high speed trains, conventional trains and steam locomotives) and airplane (jet planes and helicopters) in addition to motorsports (automobiles and motorcycles). With Spot detection setting, the driver cab of high speed train or cockpit of airplane can be detected.

Tracking reliability increased by the expanded range of Deep Learning Technology application

Improved AF tracking performance even subject change posture or brightness change by applying deep learning technology to extract subject features during subject tracking, which applies to animals, vehicles and any other subjects selected by user

    Whole Area Tracking Servo AF

EOS R6 Mark II’s “Whole Area Tracking Servo AF” is possible from any one of the 8 “AF Area” modes, including 1-point AF or Flexible Zone AF, for flexible AF operability.

Tracking subject can be switched during AF or continuous shooting. “Whole Area Tracking Servo AF” can be turned on or off during AF or continuous shooting.

EOS Movie features to optimize workflow

    Non-cropped 4K UHD 50p/60p & 6K HDMI RAW

    6K oversampling non-cropped 4K UHD 50p/60p

EOS R6 Mark II supports high quality non-cropped 4K UHD 50p/60p movie (H:100%; V: 84.4%), which is oversampled from rich 6K RGB data for higher image quality with less moiré and minimal color distortion and noise.

Continuous recording of non-cropped 4K UHD 50p/60p movie for 40mins or longer possible.

Increased CMOS sensor readout speed reduces rolling shutter distortion of 4K 25p/30p movie by approximately 40% when comparing to EOS R6.

Non-cropped FHD 150p/180p high frame rate movie

EOS R6 Mark II’s non-cropped FHD 150p/180p high frame rate movie supports 6x slow motion movie.

    Non-cropped 6k 50p/60p HDMI RAW

    EOS R6 Mark II supports external recording of non-cropped 6K (6000 x 3374) 50p/60p 10-bit ProRES RAW Movie or cropped 3.7K (3744 x 21602106) 50p/60p 12-bit ProRES RAW Movie via HDMI7

A FHD 50p/60p Canon Log 3 4:2:2 10-bit Proxy can be recorded to Card 2 simultaneously during HDMI RAW recording

    Focus Breathing correction

With typical camera lenses, the change in focus point would result in a slightly change in angle of view due to the lens adjusting the focus distance. This is know as “Focus breathing”. In the past, the focus breathing can only be suppressed by using of high end cinema lenses, such as EF Cinema Lens.

Focus Breathing Correction14 is now introduced in EOS R6 Mark II to correct change in the field of view due to focusing based on the lens ‘s optical design value. This function enables high-quality movie recording with suppressed focus breathing.

Features adopted from Cinema EOS System to enhance shooting efficiency

With EOS R6 Mark II, the AF area and white balance settings can be changed, and white balance compensation is available during movie recording as in Cinema EOS. In additional, a series of features were adopted from Cinema EOS system to enhance efficiency during unassisted (single-person) operation.

    “Detection Only”

“Detection Only” option in Movie Servo AF allows AF operates only when a subject is detected

    Pre-recording

5 sec. or 3 sec. Pre-recording added for the first time in EOS camera, the camera can capture a scene from 5 seconds or 3 seconds before the user pressing the movie record button.

    False Color

False Color Display allows more accurate exposure control, which improves efficiency.

    Cinema EOS-style Quick Control Screen

Optional Cinema EOS-style Quick Control Screen, useful when operating EOS R6 Mark II alongside Cinema EOS camera.

    UVC/UAC Compatibility
