The RF24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM is capable of shooting at 0.5x maximum magnification with a minimum focusing distance of 0.14m. High Image Quality

The RF24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM adopts a newly developed 11 elements in 9 groups optical design, incorporating 1 UD lens to correct chromatic aberration and 1 PMo aspherical lens positioned close to the image plane for excellent correction of curvature of field¹. This lens also features a large-diameter lens element in the position closest to the focal plane by taking the advantage of the RF mount. As a result, it achieves corner-to-corner sharpness even at aperture fully open and reduces the size of the overall optical system.

Quieter High Speed and Accurate AF

While RF24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM is equipped with a Gear-type STM, AF is quieter than before without lowering the AF speed. This is made possible by making the focusing lens lighter and using a lower gear ratio to reduce the STM motor rotation. The Gear-type STM, working in tandem with high-performance CPU and EOS R Series’ Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, provides high speed and smooth AF for still images and video shooting.

Superb Image Stabilization

The lens’ built-in optical image stabilizer offers 5-stop shake compensation²  and a stunning 6.5-stop shake compensation³ can be achieve with Coordinated Control IS when paired with EOS R-series camera featuring In-Body Image Stabilization.

Moreover, the lens also features Canon’s Hybrid IS, which corrects both angle-based and shift-based camera shake common in macro photography, providing up to 3-stop shake compensation⁴ at 0.5x magnification.
