RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM is the world’s first 10mm full frame lens with autofocus1, it offers 10-20mm ultra-wide angle zoom while maintains a compact size of 112mm in length and weights 570g only. It incorporates 1 UD GMo aspherical lens, 2 GMo aspherical lens, 1 Super UD lens and 2 UD lenses for extraordinary image quality. Anti-reflective SWC and ASC coatings are also added to provide excellent suppression of flare and ghosting. Its optical image stabilizer offers 5.0-stop2 shake compensation. When used with EOS R-series camera featuring In-Body Image Stabilization, up to 6.0-stop3 shake compensation can be achieved with coordinated control IS. The Lens also features new Peripheral Coordinated Control4, a new control algorithm to correct the peripheral camera-shake blur that greatly affects the peripheral image quality of wide-angle lenses by coordinated control of in-lens IS and the camera’s in-body IS, for the first time. Apart from reducing peripheral blurs in photo taking, Peripheral Coordinated Control also reduces peripheral small shakes in video shooting5. The Lens also features 1 customizable Lens Function button and dust and water-resistant design8.

Stunning Full Frame 10mm Ultra-Wide Angle
RF10-20mm F4 L IS USM is the world’s first 10mm focal length ultra-wide angle full frame lens with auto focus1, bringing a stunning ultrawide-angle of view 130° 25’. For wide angle lens, an extra 1 mm in wide angle side make a big difference in the shooting angle. A 10mm lens captures approximately two times the area comparing to a 14mm lens and approximately 1.4 times the area comparing to a 12mm lens.
The lens’ ultrawide-angle of view can handle shooting in narrow spaces, as well as capturing the whole image of buildings, vast landscapes, starry sky overhead, etc., which were given up previously due to limitation on lens’s focal length.

Extraordinary Image Quality
The RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM features a newly developed 16 elements in 12 groups optical design which takes advantage of the large diameter mount and short back focus of RF Mount. This lens is optically designed to improve overall image quality while presuming the adoption of in-camera distortion correction, and provides clear depiction to the peripheral areas of the picture.
The lens incorporates 1 UD GMo aspherical lens, 2 GMo aspherical lens, 1 Super UD lens and 2 UD lenses for extraordinary image quality. Anti-reflective SWC and ASC coatings are also added to provide excellent suppression of flare and ghosting.

GMo Aspherical Lens
A large-diameter double-sided glass-molded (GM) aspherical lens with large curvature is used for the front lens element, an UD GMo aspherical lens and a GMo aspherical lens is also included to achieve excellent corner-to-corner resolution.
Super UD Lens and UD lens
A Super Ultra-Low Dispersion (Super UD) Lens with performance comparable to Fluorite and 2 Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) Lenses are incorporated to correct chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range.
SWC(Sub-Wavelength Coating) and ASC (Air Sphere Coating)
Ghosting is reduced significantly through the active use of Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) (2 lens surfaces) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) (2 lens surfaces), both of which have a higher anti-reflective effect than common vapour-deposit coatings.
Compact Lens Design
Despite being an ultra-wide angle zoom lens and equipped with optical image stabilizer, RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM features a compact lens design that is approx. 112mm long and weights approx. 570g only.
Its compactness has been achieved by the large aperture and short back focus characteristics, which are unique to the RF mount. Body downsizing has been pursued not only through the optical system design, but also through the exterior design, internal mechanical parts layout, and even reexamination of the circuit board.
As one of the F4 L zoom lens series in the RF lens lineup, RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM realizes size similar to the other F4 L lenses. Its weight is even 100g lighter than that of RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM and RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM.
Improves Image Quality with Image Stabilization System

RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM is equipped with Optical Image Stabilizer even it is a ultra-wide angle lens not easily affected by camera shake. The optical IS offers 5.0-stop shake compensation2 to facilitate handheld shooting in low light. When paired with the EOS R-series cameras featuring In-Body Image Stabilization, the lens supports a stunning 6.0-stop shake compensation3 with Coordinated Control IS.

Introduction of ”Peripheral Coordinated Control”
While wide angle lens is less prone to camera shakes, in principle the subject deforms (perspective distortion) as it approaches the periphery of the image. In consequence, even if the center part is captured seemingly static, the picture periphery is greatly affected by subtle camera shake. When shooting at slower shutter speeds, only the periphery of the image may be blurred, and when recording movies, the periphery may be affected by the motion and blurry.
In RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM, to correct the peripheral camera shake blur, in addition to placing the IS optic lens near the image sensor, Canon also developed a new “Peripheral Coordinated Control” 4algorithm and incorporating into the coordinated control of optical IS and the camera’s in-body IS. The “Peripheral Coordinated Control” corrects the peripheral camera-shake blur that greatly affects the peripheral image quality of wide-angle lenses, reducing peripheral blurs due to small shakes in photo taking and reduces peripheral small shakes during movie shooting5.

Stabilized Movie Shooting
The extreme wide angle 10-20mm focal length of RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM maintains an ultra-wide angle field of view even with Movie Digital IS enabled. This allows the user to operate handheld stabilized ultra-wide angle shooting confidently while walking without gimbal.
High Speed AF with Leadscrew-type STM
RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM is equipped with a leadscrew-type Stepping Motor (STM) and a rear focus system to provide high speed AF for photo and smooth AF drive while suppressing sound for video shooting. In addition to adopting leadscrew-type STM, the weight of the focus lenses has been reduced. Moreover, the stroke of the lens movement is designed to be as short as possible. Thus, the lens’ AF speed is comparable to that of USM, while the adoption of STM also contributes to product downsizing.
Furthermore, Canon for the first time has adopted in RF10-20mm F4 L IS a combination of a leadscrew-type STM and a focus lens position detection sensor (position sensor) used in Nano USM lenses. Since the reset of focusing lens becomes unnecessary even when the power is turned on, startup time is shortened.
Supports Focus Breathing Correction
When paired with EOS R-series cameras supporting Focus Breathing Correction, the changes in the angle of view caused by focus movement can be suppressed. It allows users to record natural movies with no discomfort even if focus is changed from foreground to background or vice-versa6.
Excellent Operability and Reliability
Lens Function(L-Fn) Button
A Lens Function (L-Fn) Button is added on the left side of the lens. In addition to the default AF OFF function, various shooting functions can also be customized to personal preferences.
Rear Gelatin Filter Holder
A holder for installing gelatin filter is provided at the rear of the lens. A gelatin filter cut out by the user with thickness 0.02mm or below can be inserted. Since ND filters can also be used, this holder is useful when shooting photos of landscapes or movies with a open aperture.
Control Ring
Incorporates the RF lens control ring to adjust assigned settings such as ISO speed, shutter speed or aperture value directly from the lens.
The clicking sensation and sound of the control ring can be removed for silent control during photo shooting or video recording. This service is available at Canon Care Center (chargeable service).
Compatible with Electronic full-time MF
Lens is compatible with Electronic full-time MF7, focus can be adjusted manually with focus ring anytime during ONE SHOT AF or SERVO AF.
Fluorine coating
Fluorine coating on foremost lens surface helps prevent dust, oil and water from sticking to the lens, makes cleaning much easier.
Dust and water-resistance 8
Control ring, focus ring, zoom ring, operation panel, and mount part are designed to be dust- and water-resistant8.
