EOS R3 is an advanced Full Frame Mirrorless camera designed for sports photographers, photojournalists and wedding and event photographers, expanding their creativity with high speed, high sensitivity, high image quality with advanced AF tracking system. EOS R3 features a newly developed 24.1-megapixel full frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor and offers up to approximately 30FPS continuous shooting1 with electronic shutter and up to 8-stop of shake compensation3 with its 5-axis in-body image stabilizer.
EOS R3 incorporated an innovative Eye Control AF5 for intuitive AF point control and an improved AF tracking system developed with “Deep Learning” technology. EOS R3 High Speed Continuous Shooting
- Innovative Eye Control AF5 function, a first in the EOS DIGITAL series, enables the AF frame to be controlled according to detected movement of the user’s eye, making quick AF transition between subjects possible.
- Renowned “Dual Pixel CMOS AF II” technology which provides up to 100% AF coverage area6
- AF tracking and calculation at 60 FPS when an electronic shutter is used. The high-precision AF continues capturing the subject even during continuous shooting at speeds of up to approx. 30 FPS.

Eye Control AF and AF Tracking
- Features evolved “EOS iTR8 AF X” with AF algorithm developed using an expanded scope of application of Deep Learning technology for improved subject recognition and AF tracking:
- New Vehicle Detection capable of overall and spot detection for motorsports9 (automobiles and motorcycles). With Spot detection setting, driver’s helmet can be detected
- In addition to head, face and eye detection, a body detection algorithm has been added to people detection for situations where large movements block or hide the face or the head
- Animal detection10 now steadily tracks the animal's body, face, and eyes
- Revamped tracking system allows simply “grabbing” the parts of a subject to be tracked using the 1-point AF or zone AF, the camera will determine the optimum tracking position and perform subject detection and tracking

Lens Compatibility Information：
1 During servo AF, only RF lenses and some EF lenses can be used for continuous shooting at the maximum speed. For details on supported lenses, refer to here. The continuous shooting speed may be reduced by the lens, shutter speed, aperture, flash, flicker reduction processing, subject conditions, and brightness (for example, when shooting in a dark place). Refer to Advanced User Guide for details. If flicker is detected, continuous shooting will slow down even when anti-flicker shooting is turned off.
2 Blackouts may occur either at the start of shooting, when the built-in memory is full or when the flash is out of charge during continuous shooting and recharging is completed.
3 Based on the CIPA standard, yaw/pitch direction, 8.0 stops with RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM at a focal distance of 105mm. Depending on the time of purchase, the lens firmware needs to be updated.
4 With using an external flash unit release in or after 2007 (except 430EX II, 90EX, 320EX and 580EX II). Up to approx. 20FPS with flash metering locked at 1st image.
5 Calibration is recommended in advance. Note that the Eye Control AF may not function properly if the user wears sunglasses, mirror-type sunglasses, hard contact lenses, or bifocal eyeglasses, or due to the user’s eye conditions (narrow eyes, long eyelashes, thick eyelids) or use conditions. It is necessary to press a button to lock the focus.
6 Applicable when subject frame is shown while using Subject Tracking and compatible lens. Some scenes and subjects may not be applicable. For details on compatible lenses, please refer to here.
7 When using f/1.2 lens under the following conditions: center focus point, room temperature, One-shot AF, ISO 100. This does not apply to RF lenses with DS (Defocus Smoothing) coating.
8 Intelligent Tracking and Recognition
9 The vehicle detection may not function for some subjects. Or, subjects, which are not automobile or motorcycle, may be detected as vehicles. Only overall detection can be used for a racing car with a roof.
10 Effectiveness varies depending on the subject. In some cases, dogs, cats or birds may not be detected, while some animals other than dogs, cats or birds may be detected.
11 Some accessories are not supported.

15 In order to maximize dust- and water-resistant performance, make sure that all camera openings (including battery compartment, card slot cover, and terminal cover) are tightly closed and Multi-Function Shoe cover is attached. Although it is designed to be dust- and water-resistant, Canon cannot guarantee that dust and water will not penetrate the camera.
16 Wired transfer requires a separate cable that is compatible with particular communication. Smartphones that do not have a USB host function are not compatible.

19 Electronic Shutter is used. Auto Focus and Auto Exposure are determined by conditions for the first shot. Speedlite is not supported.
