Lightweight 800mm Super Telephoto L Lens

Its 3,140g weight, about 30% lighter than the EF Lens with the same focal length, greatly enhances practicability to high quality super telephoto lens and expands the realm of photography of professionals and high amateurs by allowing capture subjects require very long focal length, including marine sports, aviation and wildlife more easily.

Outstanding Image Quality
RF800mm F5.6 L IS USM inherits the superior optical design of RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM, with an optimized magnification optics added to the rear to achieve a longer focal length and a drastic size reduction comparing to the conventional design. Its 26 elements 18 groups optical design includes 2 fluorite lenses, 1 Super UD lens and 1 UD lens to provide sharp and clear images without chromatic aberration, bringing superior image quality comparing to existing lens with an extender installed.

Fluorite Lens and Super UD Lens
2 fluorite lens elements and 1 Super UD lens elements minimize chromatic aberration and achieve high resolution and contrast across the entire frame of the images. The glass material of the first lens element also effectively suppresses chromatic aberrations.
UD Lens
1 UD lens element has been placed in the front of magnification optics at the rear section of the lens to provide excellent chromatic aberration due to magnification, bringing superior image quality comparing to existing lens with an extender installed.
ASC (Air Sphere Coating)
ASC (Air Sphere Coating) anti-reflection coating technology is incorporated to reduce flare and ghosting and improves image clarity and contrast when shooting into backlight.
Amazing Minimum Focusing Distance and Maximum Magnification
The optical design of RF800mm F5.6 L IS USM makes a minimum focusing distance of 2.6m and 0.34x maximum magnification possible, a big advantage over the conventionally designed super telephoto lens of same focal length. This allows users to capture excellent detailed images of small subjects at a closer distance, such as small birds or wild animals. Moreover, the maximum magnification can be further increase with Extender RF1.4x or RF2x.

Enhanced Image Stabilizer
The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer provides image stabilization of up to 4.5-stop shutter speed1 shake reduction, which is especially significant in super-telephoto shooting. With the lens significant weight reduction, more comfortable handheld shooting facilitated by the Image Stabilizer becomes possible.

Compatible with Extender RF1.4x and RF2x
RF800mm F5.6 L IS USM is compatible with the Extender RF1.4x and Extender RF2x, which extends the focal length to 1120mm and 1600mm respectively. Even with extenders attached, auto focus and image stabilizer can still operate normally.

“Lens Function“ button supporting more customizable functions
Apart from the default "Stop AF" function, the 4 “Lens Function” button also allows photographers to customize to other functions such as autofocus, exposure or switching focus/control ring function.3
Focus Presets
Up to two focus presets can be set to allow focusing quickly on a shooting distance that is preset by the user. This is useful for sports photography and other situations where the shooting distance and angle are known in advance.
Manual Focus Speed Switch
This focus ring lets users select from three steps of manual focus speed 4(focusing speed is fastest when set to 1), bringing flexibility and precise focus control to photographers with greater convenience.
Power Focus Mode (PF)
This focus mode enables smooth focus movement ideal for shooting video. The focusing speed can be operated at low or high speed, depending on how much the Focus Playback Ring is turned.
